The Stratford Scribes is a group of Fairfield County writers serious about the creation and publication of their craft. The group meets in Stratford, Ct. and owes a philosophical debt to Roberto Calas for both the tone and format of the meetup. We are a group of writers committed to pushing each other to achieve the writing life (and audience) to which we aspire.

Writing can be lonely existence. We are a creative community center in the heart of Westport in a 19th century carriage house that looks like a little red schoolhouse. We teach creative writing in small groups and have many sections. We also teach screenwriting, writing for children, memoir, songwriting and have a teen program in July. An ongoing group of writers that meets every Monday night at a restaurant in White Plains. Two people submit every week and the group reviews their work and discusses it at the meeting. Meetings are usually two hours. A writer will on average submit once a month. Before being admitted to the group, we require a writing sample. Any representative work will be fine.  It doesn't have to be long.
